Joanne is the founder and chairperson of Transgender Resource Center as well as the former chairperson of Pink Alliance, two active non-governmental organizations that aim to serve the LGBT community and promote LGBT equality. She is a public figure in the LGBT movement devoted to supporting works in the community as well as advocacy for LGBT rights in Hong Kong and Mainland China which has received numerous honors.
In 2012, noticing that the health care system in Hong Kong is lacking knowledge on HIV/AIDS in the transgender community, Joanne started the first transgender HIV/AIDS programme in Hong Kong. She has also been featured as one of the "45 People Aged 45 or Below Making a Difference in Hong Kong" by Baccarat Magazine in 2012. In 2013, Joanne became a committee member of the Advisory Group on Eliminating Discrimination against Sexual Minorities under the government body. In 2 years time together with other committee members, Joanne worked out an advisory report and offered many thoughtful opinions to the government regarding LGBT and sexual minorities issues which has been implemented now. In 2014, Joanne has introduced the Pink Dot initiated from Singapore to Hong Kong, which is one of the most anticipated and biggest LGBTI+ events in Hong Kong attracting over ten thousands people to participate every year while she was the vice chair of Pink Alliance. She also spoke twice as the Hong Kong delegation in UN CEDAW committee meeting in this year to raise the issues of transgender in Hong Kong. Later, she joined the Hong Kong Democratic Party as the first transgender politician in Hong Kong, participated in the 2016 pre-election of the Hong Kong Legislative Council with the highest support ranking in the public opinion survey within the Democratic Party. She has also received the "She Dare to Change” award in 2014 from the HER Fund.
In 2016, she founded a project named TransChina which aimed to bring trans people's voice in China via tour public speaking and online videos to boost public awareness of transgender people in China. She also received the Annual LGBT Milestone Awards in the same year. In 2017, the U.S. Consulate Hong Kong and Macau selected Joanne as the nominee for the Secretary's International Women of Courage Award honoring women who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership in acting to improve others' lives. In 2018 she has received the Prism Award from HKLGFF to honour people with enormous impact in advancing LGBT rights in Hong Kong. She is currently taking lead on advocating Gender Recognition Ordinance (GRO), Marriage Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ordinance for the protection of sexual minorities in Hong Kong.
Joanne梁詠恩是跨性別资源中心的創始人，亦曾擔當粉红同盟的主席，致力於香港及中國大陸推動跨性別運動，以教育為基礎出發，為社會人士及跨性別社群提供資源及資訊，幫助社會加深認識性/別議題，及讓跨性別人士得到應有之協助及權益。在平權運動中，她獲得了不少肯定。
2012年，梁詠恩於香港推行了首個跨性別愛滋病教育及預防計劃，並提升了香港醫療體制對跨性別及愛滋病的關注。同年，她被香港Baccarat 時尚生活雜誌評為「四十五位四十五歲以下令香港帶來改變的人士」。2013她擔任香港政制及內地事務局消除歧視性小眾諮詢小組成員，在兩年的任內制定了一份諮詢報告，並就性少眾議題向政府提出了許多已經落實了的實質意見。2014年在任粉紅同盟副主席時，主力推動引入新加坡的一點粉紅活動，為屹今全香港最大型的同志活動之一。同年於聯合國日內瓦CEDAW會議中兩次代表香港發言，向委員提出關於跨性別的平權意見。2014年，梁詠恩加入了民主黨於當中擔任性別平權委員會委員，於2016年曾以民調最高支持度角逐民主黨新界東立法會出選資格，是香港首位跨性別政客。2014年更獲HER Fund頒發「她。敢於改變」年度勇敢女性獎。
2016年6月，她成立「環跨中國」， 通過全國循迴演講、網上視頻 等形式去分享跨性别的生命故事，讓中國每一個地區都能聽到跨性别的聲音，讓更多的人生活得更好。同年獲頒亞洲LGBT里程碑大獎。2017年，她獲美國領事館（香港及澳門）頒授年度勇敢女性獎並提名國際勇敢女性獎。2018年年獲香港同志電影節頒發年度玲瓏大獎，近年她主力推動性別承認法、婚姻平權及反歧視法的立法工作。
